Join the ZOA, MJE, and Fuel for Truth as we welcome in Shabbat and celebrate Israel! While the world continues to deny our rights and history in the Land of Israel, we are not afraid to celebrate our storied history in the world's only Jewish state. In addition to the eating, drinking, and shmoozing, this dinner will feature a short D'var Torah about the Jewish connection to Israel and how the UN and Arab World are demonizing our claims to the land. The D'var Torah will be given by MJE's Rabbi Jonathan Feldman and the ZOA's Zach Stern.

This event is for Young Professionals only. You must be under the age of 37 and must present a photo ID at the event.

About the Film

Body and Soul – The State of the Jewish Nation presents a comprehensive examination of the broad and deep connections between the Jewish People and the Land of Israel. World-renowned historians, archaeologists, political scientists, religious leaders, and international law and media experts trace the evocative evolution of the relationship between the Jewish People and their homeland that is over 3,000 years old.

"Jewish identity is born in a journey to the Land of Israel", declares Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks of the United Kingdom. That journey moves through the First and Second Temple periods and the Middle Ages, then to modernity, where the development of political Zionism catalyzed the blossoming of a new Jewish spirit. That renewal of Jewish spirit resulted in the rebirth of Jewish sovereignty in the Land, an event that Harvard University Professor Ruth Wisse declares "a miracle of truly Biblical proportions."

This powerful documentary, produced and directed by award-winning Gloria Z. Greenfield, conveys eloquent messages of determination, focus, and calls to action.

The ZOA New York Metro Chapter Presents

Anti-Semitism and Israel Bashing
On
Campus: What  You Should Know, How We Can Fight It

A Conversation with Susan Tuchman Director, Center for Law and Justice Zionist Organization of America

This is a great opportunity to meet with fellow Zionists in the NYC area, and learn about WHAT YOU CAN DO to fight Anti-Semitism on college campuses.

Susan Tuchman is the director of the Zionist Organization of America's Center for Law and Justice.  Established in 1897, the ZOA is the oldest and one of the largest pro-Israel organizations in the United States.

Much of Susan's work at the ZOA has been dedicated to advocating for Jewish students facing anti-Semitism and Israel-bashing on their college campuses.  Under Susan's leadership, the ZOA filed a landmark civil rights complaint on behalf of Jewish students at the University of California at Irvine, challenging years of anti-Semitic harassment and intimidation.  In November 2005, Susan testified at a hearing on campus anti-Semitism, held before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.  The hearing led to important government findings and recommendations to protect Jewish college students from campus anti-Semitism.  The Susan’s work played a key role in getting the U.S. Department of Education to clarify its civil rights policy in October 2010, making it clear that Jewish students at federally-funded schools are protected from anti-Semitic harassment and intimidation under federal law.

In 2006, the Forward named Susan one of the "50 most influential members of the Jewish community" Before joining the ZOA, Susan was a litigation partner at the law firm of Hinckley, Allen & Snyder, in Boston.  She is a graduate of Brandeis University and the Boston University School of Law.
